Gallery dies… again.

Starting July 23, 2008 - Ending January 1, 2009

Yes, our gallery has died, again.  This time I jumped the gun and wiped out the gallery without a backup (STUPID!).

Make a backup!!!!  That's the rule every computer nerd learns one way or the other (usually the hard way).  I learned it again after upgrading the gallery to 2.3 RC1 and the gallery2 Drupal module to its latest version.  A real shame because i had just finished uploading ALL of my iPhoto library to the gallery.  Now I get to start from scratch again.  I guess ONCE more I get to re-think the layout and exactly what photos will make it.  I went for everything last time (except for the photo's that were red carded by my wife).  I think this time I'll be a little more selective.

I suppose this will warrant a post to the page, but I am looking at starting an audio podcast.  Just my random thoughts on being a new dad and whatnot.  Jen's a little excited about it as well, which is strange for her (she usually could care less about what I'm doing with the computer).  Anyway, I've setup Drupal with the appropriate modules and everything's set for doing one, I just need to make sure it's all iTunes compliant so I can actually publish it.  More than likely it will show up in a blog section, not on the front page.  More to come on that in a real post.

Yes, after switching themes so many times I can't even count anymore, I've found the one that I really like. I'm sure you've noticed the blue theme and new yellow gray logo. This site layout may change but I doubt it. I settled on this theme because it offers a wide array of layout possibilities, it comes in 3 different color choices (but I like blue) and can be set at fixed width or variable. I also like the fact that you can choose the sidebar placement as both right, both left, or split right/left. There are blocks and areas for text/images that are static and not changing with the newest news, etc. Keep your eyes peeled for more eye candy on the site as well. HammerHead is here to stay.

Gallery Reset

Starting July 1, 2008 - Ending July 15, 2008

If you're looking for pictures in the gallery, you won't find them. If you're interested or having issues accessing anything please read more…

With some of the other changes I've been making lately it was necessary to basically re-set all the data in my Gallery2 installation mostly to correct problems in the database as well as some other issues. What does this mean? Better integration with Drupal and correction of some errors that were due to mis-configuration in the first place.

This will give me a chance to correct some of the oddities I had in the organization of my gallery, for example, more albums that and sub-albums that seem to fit better. As well as taking out some of the garbage pictures that really never belonged in the first place.

Now, because Gallery2 utilizes cookies for some of the navigation, it may be necessary to clear your browsers cookies before my gallery will work on your browser. This is easily accomplished with Firefox or Safari, and Internet Explorer in your settings, just poke around and e-mail me if you can't figure it out. Cookies are something you should clear occasionally anyway.

That said, have fun and let me know if you notice anything off.
